“Dull / creeping drumming, heavy / psychedelic guitar, filtered vocals. You can feel: something is in the air here. Then: the big bang. The storm breaks out. Allmusic's David Cleary described Troops of Tomorrow as a "slow, menacing number".

In the future. ”On the other hand, Cleary felt that the song was getting too dense and that the opening of the song was excessively long. It is the only really ineffective excursion on the album. th von Musikexpress / Sounds wrote in his review of The Power of Money (The Best of The Vibrators) , which contains new recordings from 1991, that Troops of Tomorrow was “still enough ruckus and noise to lead to the turbulent end of the seventies recall".
