Trost Records is an independent Austrian record label based in Vienna .

history

Trost was founded in the early 1990s as a cassette label on which popular Austrian alternative bands released, including Valina , Snakkerdu Densk , Bulbul and Holly May.

Since 2011, Trost has been publishing more free jazz recordings, including new editions on the sub-label Cien Fuegos . In recent years there have been close collaborations with jazz musicians such as Peter Brötzmann , Christof Kurzmann , Mats Gustafsson and Alexander von Schlippenbach . In 2013 the label received the German Record Critics' Prize for the 5-CD box Peter Brötzmann - Long Story Short , the recordings of which were made during the Unlimited Festival 2011 in Wels .

Trost Records is in close cooperation with the Scandinavian free jazz band The Thing (the thing records), the Viennese band Radian (Radian Releases) and the Viennese label Comfortzone .
