Trout Lake ( Lake trout is the English name for the American Arctic char ) is a lake in the Kenora District of the Canadian province of Ontario .
The lake has a water area of 368 km² and a total area including islands of 413 km². It is located 200 km east of Lake Winnipeg and 55 km north of Lac Seul . Trout Lake is drained in a southerly direction from the Troutlake River to Pakwash Lake , through which the Chukuni River , a right tributary of the English River , flows. Thus, the lake belongs to the catchment area of the Winnipeg River and thus also of the Nelson River .
The Trout Lake Provincial Nature Reserve covers the west bank of the lake.
The remote lake is usually reached by seaplane. Typical fish species in the lake are eyeglasses , pike and American char .
