Samuel Georg Trygve Samuelsen (occasionally Trygve Samuelsen ; born September 16, 1907 in Tórshavn , died February 19, 1985 in Tórshavn) was a Faroese lawyer and politician. He was a member of the Sambandsflokkurin in Løgting, Faroese .

education and profession

Trygvi Samuelsen grew up in Fuglafjørður . He studied in Denmark at the Sorø Akademi ( exam. Art. 1926). He graduated in law in 1933. In the same year Trygvi Samuelsen became const. Sýslumaður from Eysturoy . At that time, his father Andrass Samuelsen held the post of Sýslumaður there. From 1934 Trygvi worked as a lawyer in Torshavn and from 1938 he was a lawyer himself.

politics

Samuelsen was a member of the Tórshavnar kommuna council from 1936 to 1964 . He was elected to the Løgting for the first time in 1943, but left again in 1946, in order to then belong to the parliament from 1949 to 1974 without interruption. In the last four years of parliament he was also party chairman of the Sambandsflokkurin (1970–1974). In addition, he had taken on the role of Icelandic consul on the Faroe Islands in 1956 .

family

Trygvi Samuelsen was born to Andrass Samuelsen , Sýslumaður von Eysturoy, and his wife Beate Emilie Lindenskov in 1907 in Tórshavn. Steingrim Samuelsen (1903–1951), also Sýslumaður from Eysturoy, was his older brother. Georg Lindenskov Samuelsen (1910–1997), long-time editor of the party newspaper Dimmalætting , was the younger brother. One of Trygvi's nephews is the politician Eilif Samuelsen .
