The Tschaja (also Aseniza or Tschepelarska; Bulgarian Чая , Асеница or Чепеларска ) is a small river in Bulgaria . It rises at an altitude of 1,500 meters in the Rhodope Mountains and flows into the Mariza after 86 km . The Chaya flows through the city Asenovgrad and the villages Jugowo , Naretschenski bani and Bachkovo . The largest tributary is the Jugowska . It ends at Jugowskoto chantsche ("Gasthaus Jugowo"). This is located between the villages of Naretschenski bani, Jugowo and Batschkowo. The river is mainly polluted with lead and zinc by the factories around the town of Laki , another problem is pollution from garbage. There are two hydropower plants along the river with a standard energy capacity of 2,400 kWh .
