Tschawdar Jankow [ tʃavdar jankɔf ], Bulgarian Чавдар Янков , engl. Transcription: Chavdar Yankov , scientific. Transliteration: Čavdar Jankov , (born March 29, 1984 in Sofia ) is a Bulgarian football player .
Club career
Tschawdar Jankow is considered to be one of the greatest talents in Bulgarian football. After the departure of long-time midfield director Nebojša Krupniković to league competitor Arminia Bielefeld , the question arose about the creative moment in the game of Hannover 96. The solution should be Jankow, whom the then 96 manager Ilja Kaenzig for the beginning of the 2005/06 season for initially borrowed a year.
In addition to Hannover 96 were u. a. and Olympique Marseille , the ACF Florence and Espanyol at the Bulgarians interested. Before that he played for the Bulgarian club Slavia Sofia .
Although Jankow was initially unable to meet the high expectations and in particular had difficulties in asserting himself in the offensive duel, the loan contract was extended for another year in February 2006. The 96 coaches Ewald Lienen and later Peter Neururer appreciated Jankow's tactical discipline and his strengths on the defensive. After the end of the Neururer era, his successor Dieter Hecking Jankow started in defensive midfield in front of the defense, where he played his best season so far for Hannover 96. In May 2007 the Bulgarian signed a four-year contract in Hanover. In the following two seasons Jankow played only eight Bundesliga games for Hanover due to several knee injuries and a metatarsal fracture and was most recently used in the second team in the Regionalliga Nord.
For the 2009/2010 season Jankow is loaned to the second division club MSV Duisburg . He is considered a dream player for MSV coach Peter Neururer , who already worked with him in Hanover, and should close the gap in the central midfield after the departure of Cédric Makiadi .
In the winter break of the 2009/10 season he was fired by MSV coach Milan Šašić and returned to Hannover 96 . On January 12, 2010 Jankow moved to the Ukraine to Metalurg Donetsk , which awarded him to FK Rostov in the summer of 2010 .
Since summer 2012 Jankow has been playing again with his youth club Slavia Sofia. He has been without a club since the beginning of 2015.
National team
Tschawdar Jankow has played 31 international matches for Bulgaria , in which he scored five goals (as of November 1, 2008).
