The Tschelentsy , in Upper Sorbian Ćeleńc , is a mountain in the municipality of Doberschau-Gaussig , Saxony , district of Bautzen . The name is derived from the Sorbian word Celo for "calf" and suggests that the mountain earlier than Hutung was used.
Location and surroundings
The Tschelentsy is located about seven kilometers southwest of Bautzen and about four kilometers northwest of the city of Wilthen . South of the Tschelentsy is the village of Arnsdorf , located on the northwestern foothills of Mount Weißnaußlitz .
history
Cattle and probably also calves used to be kept on the Tschelentsy; therefore the mountain got its name and was also called Kälberberg in German. The Kuhweg leading to Gnaschwitz also indicates this. Alternatively, the name Gnaschwitzer Berg or Hnaščanska hora appears.
