Tschinggis Mamedow

Tschinggis Mamedow ( Kyrgyz Чиңгиз Мамедов ; born July 19, 1989 in Shu , Kazakh SSR ) is a former Kyrgyz judoka .

The 1.85 m tall Mamedow was the Kyrgyz junior champion in 2005 and 2007. In 2007 and 2008 he won the light middleweight title at the Kyrgyz championships, the weight class up to 81 kilograms. In 2010 he won the middleweight division up to 90 kilograms. In October 2010 he reached third place at the World Cup in Minsk. At the 2010 Asian Games, he finished seventh. In April 2011, he reached fifth place at the Asian Championships. Two months later he was third at the World Cup in Bucharest. In 2012 he won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Tashkent after losing to the Uzbek Dilshod Choriyev in the semifinals . At the 2012 Olympic Games , Mamedow was the flag bearer of the Kyrgyz Olympic team . In the Olympic tournament he was eliminated after a first round defeat against the Japanese Masashi Nishiyama . In 2013 he finished fifth at the Asian Championships and the Universiade .

In 2014, Mamedow switched to light heavyweight, the weight class up to 100 kilograms. He came second behind the Brazilian Luciano Corrêa at the European Open 2014 in Oberwart. At the Judo World Championships in 2015 , he finished seventh. Mamedow's international career ended after an opening defeat at the Asian Championships in 2016.
