First ascent | 1972 by a German rope team |
The Tsoboje (or Chobutse ) is a mountain in the Himalayas in the Rolwaling Himal mountain range . Its southwest flank clearly dominates the Rolwalingtal from Na .
Ascent history
The mountain was first climbed by a German rope team (Wolfgang Weinzierl, Peter Vogler, Gustav and Klaus Harder) in 1972 via the northeast ridge.
In 2015 the southwest flank of Mingma Gyalje Sherpa from the Rolwaling was first climbed.
Geological hazards
The ice balconies on the southwest flank threaten the Tsho Rolpa glacier lake directly below and could lead to an overflow. An early warning system against spring tides was therefore installed at the lake and in the Rolwalingtal.
