Tsuchimikado

Emperor Tsuchimikado ( Japanese 土 御 門 天皇 , Tsuchimikado-tennō ; * January 3, 1196 , † November 6, 1231 ) was the 83rd Tennō of Japan (February 18, 1198-12 December 1210).

Tsuchimikado became a Tenno when he was two and resigned when he was 15. He was succeeded by Emperor Juntoku . The actual power had the shoguns Minamoto no Yoriie (1182-1204, r. 1202-1203) and Minamoto no Sanetomo (1192-1219, r. 1203-1219).

Tsuchimikado left Tokyo and died in exile in Awa province in 1231 .
