Tsumiki no Ie ( Japanese つ み き の い え , dt. "House of building blocks", also known under the French title La maison en petits cubes ) is a Japanese animation / short film by Kunio Katō from 2008. Won at the 2009 Academy Awards the film in the Best Animated Short Film category .

The film takes place in a world in which the sea level is constantly rising. For this reason, the residents of a city flooded by water are forced to keep adding block-shaped floors to their houses in order to stay dry. One of the residents, an old man, drops his beloved pipe into the water one day and he has to watch it sink into the lower floors of his house. Originally looking for a new pipe, he instead buys a diving suit so that he can dive for his lost pipe. As he penetrates deeper and older floors of his house, he experiences scenes of his life in his mind. Finally he reaches the ground floor and steps outside through the front door, where he is overwhelmed by memories of his youth, when the city is still above sea level and he confesses his affection to his childhood sweetheart under a tree and builds the house in which he is after such a long time still living, albeit many floors higher.
