Tsuzumi Tsuneyoshi

Tsuzumi Tsuneyoshi ( Japanese 鼓 常 良 , self-used transliteration Tsudzumi Tsuneyoshi ; born July 27, 1887 in Hiroshima Prefecture ; died February 7, 1981 ) was a Japanese German scholar and translator during the Shōwa period .

life and work

Tsuzumi graduated from the University of Tokyo with a degree in German in 1912 and then became a German teacher at the 8th old-style secondary school (now Nagoya University ). He has published books on studying German and comparing the cultures of the East and West, and has also published in German. a. in connection with the Japan Institute , Berlin. In the period up to the end of the Pacific War , he was close to National Socialist ideas. After 1945 he became a professor at Osaka University . In his later years he dealt with Montessori pedagogy and translated corresponding works into Japanese.
