Tubifera is a genus of slime molds from the Myxogastria group . It includes five types.

features

The fruiting bodies are apparent ethers of numerous, tightly pressed sporangia , occasionally smaller, loose or bundled groups can be found. The elongated sporangia are ocher to dark brown, shiny or shimmering and open at the extreme end to release spores.

The hypothallus is spongy, sometimes raised to a stem-like, sturdy, dark-colored structure or, in Tubifera bombarda , delicate and thin, like a film. The membranous, single-layer peridium persists in the lower half. A pseudocapillitium may be absent or present. The spores are light yellow to red-brown.

distribution

Tubifera ferruginosa and Tubifera microsperma are much more widespread and more common than the other species in the genus. With the exception of Tubifera casparyii , all species are also found in the tropics.

Systematics and research history

The genus was first described by Józef Thomasz Rostafiński in 1873 , the type species is the Tubifera ferruginosa , which was originally first described as a Stemonitis species . The genus includes five species including:
