Tuff is an American glam metal band, founded in 1985 in Phoenix , Arizona by Jorge Desaint, Todd "Chase" Chaisson and Gary Huckaby, who left the group in the same year and through Michael Raimondo, who later became Michael Lean called, was replaced.

Band history

After founding the band and doing a few local concerts in California, Tuff decided to move their musical activities to Hollywood in 1986, where they recorded an EP with four songs with their new front man Jimmy "L'mour" Gillette . When Jim Gillette left the formation at short notice, following his solo career, with the end of the recordings, the search for a suitable singer began again. In the weeks and months that followed, various vocalists tried to gain a foothold in the glam metal band, including Steve Rachelle, who was ultimately accepted into the music group.

In 1991, after several tours through the American Midwest, Tuff received her first recording contract with Atlantic Records , where she released her debut album What Comes Around Goes Around , along with her first TV appearances. This was followed in 1994 on the one hand by the EP Fist First , which was distributed under the band label RLS ("Record Labels Suck") founded by Stevie Rachelle, and on the other hand in 1995 the LP Religious Fix , which was released by BMG / Mausoleum and basically one around three songs representing extended version of Fist First . From the year 2000 Tuff published various DVDs for her songs, as well as compilations and new editions of her albums, expanded by newly recorded, added pieces of music.

style

The demo recordings from 1986 and 1987 were viewed by Oliver Klemm and Götz Kühnemund in the Metal Hammer as Mötley-Crüe -Early phases-like. The break-out reviewer Georg Loegler's song Lonely Lucy sounded suspiciously like Ratt on the debut album , while his favorite track Wake Me Up was officially written by Poison's Bret Michaels . Jörg Staude from Metal Hammer found the album Religious Fix neither original nor catchy and called its author a “Poison subdivision” and the style as “ Sleaze / Glam Rock”.
