Tumulus de la Motte de Puytaillé

The undated tumulus , registered as Monument historique in 1970, has a length of about 140 m and a width of 18.0 meters. The height varies between 13 and 18 meters. If it comes from the Neolithic , it would be the oldest monument in the Deux-Sèvres department.

Legend has it that there is a horse or a statue made of gold hidden under the hill, but no one has ever found any of these objects.

There are other protected tumuli in the department: Necropolis of Bougon , the Tumulus de la Motte des Justices in Thouars, the Tumulus of Nouverteils and the Tumulus C of Péré .
