The Soumagne Tunnel ( tunnel de Soumagne ) is the longest railway tunnel in Belgium . The structure erected in connection with the HSL 3 high-speed line overcomes a height difference of 120 m. After four years of construction, the trains have been running at speeds of up to 200 km / h since 2009. The west portal is in Vaux-sous-Chèvremont in the Weser valley , the east portal in Ayeneux on the Herver Land at an altitude of 210 m. The tunnel passes under the municipal areas of Chaudfontaine , Fléron , Olne and Soumagne . The slope is between 1.7% and 2%.
