Soumagne is a municipality in the Belgian province of Liege . It consists of the localities Soumagne, Ayeneux, Cerexhe-Heuseux, Évegnée-Tignée, Mélen and Micheroux .

The longest railway tunnel in Belgium (6505 m), the Soumagne tunnel, was built in the municipality and is part of the HSL 3 high-speed line , which connects Liège with the German border near Aachen .

Between 1580 and 1970, coal was mined in the communes of Soumagne and Aeyneux, on an industrial scale from the middle of the 19th century. The conveyor systems have been listed as an industrial cultural monument since 1992.

From 1942 to 1944, the German occupiers operated a branch of the Lebensborn , called "Maternité des Ardennes", in the area of ​​the municipality .
