Theux is a city in the province of Liege , Verviers administrative district , Belgium . It is located in the valley of the Hoëgne , which rises in the High Fens as the Polleur stream . 12,031 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) live here on an area of 83.36 km².

When the municipalities merged in 1977, the municipalities of La Reid and Polleur were incorporated. The villages and hamlets of Becco , Bronromme , Desnié , Fays , Hestroumont , Hodbomont , Jehanster , Jehoster , Jevoumont , Juslenville , Juslenville-Petite , La Reid, Marché , Mont , Oneux , Polleur, Pouillou-Fourneau , Raborive belong to the united places. Today Theux presents itself as the Walloon capital of crayfish , there is a small exhibition on this in the community library. The castle Franchimont , whose beginnings go back to the Middle Ages , is worth seeing .
The city's train station is on the Verviers – Spa-Géronstère line , and there are other stops in the districts of Juslenville and Franchimont.

Theux was first mentioned in a document in 814. In that year, Ludwig the Pious handed over part of his property to the Imperial Abbey of Stablo-Malmedy . The city charter Theux received in 1456th
