The Tunupa (also Thunupa ) is a volcano in the department of Potosi , Bolivia . It is located in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Tahua on the northern edge of the Salar de Uyuni and is 5432 m high. At the foot of the Tunupa there are several accommodations from which you can start the ascent to the Tunupa. Halfway up there is a closed room with four mummies and accessories.
A local deity is also named Tunupa.
