The Turbine Museum Augsburg deals with the technology and history of the turbines in the former mechanical cotton spinning and weaving mill in Augsburg's textile district .

Construction and exhibition

The turbines, which have not been in use for a long time, are still located where they were in use until the final end of the spinning and weaving mill: In a 300 m² hall of the Augsburg factory palace .

In the course of the establishment of the ski museum at the end of 2006, the opportunity was also used to make the turbines a theme for a museum. The exhibition leads past the individual machines and explains technical as well as historical details about the turbines on boards.

Sponsorship and operation

Like the ski museum next door, the museum was set up and operated by an Augsburg sports store. Since no further exhibits are expected, the financial outlay is within reasonable limits. The turbine museum is always open on weekdays at the same times as the ski museum and does not cost any admission.

location

The factory palace that houses the turbine museum is located on the corner of Berliner Allee and Reichenberger Straße. It can be reached by local public transport from Stadtwerke Augsburg using city bus routes 33 (“Proviantbachquartier” stop) and 36 (“Reichenberger Straße” stop).
