Anne Provoost (born July 26, 1964 in Poperinge ) is a Flemish writer .

life and work

Provoost grew up in Woesten (today part of the municipality of Vleteren ). She studied literature and education at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and graduated in German philology. She then followed her husband to the United States , where she wrote her first book in 1990 - "Mijn tante is een grindewal" . "Vallen" , a book for young people about racism and extremism, followed in 1994 and "De roos en het zwijn" in 1997 . In 2001 "De arkvaarders" appeared and in 2007 her last novel so far "In de zon kijken" .

Her work, originally written in Dutch , has been translated into twelve languages. Her most important book is "Vallen" , for which she received five European literary prizes.

In June 2007 Provoost ran as a member of the Groen! for the Belgian Senate . She is a member of PEN and the Koninklijke Academie voor Nederlandse Taal- en Letterkunde and lives in Antwerp with her husband and three children .
