Turbinicarpus pseudopectinatus is a species of plant in the genus Turbinicarpus from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Turbinicarpus pseudopectinatus grows solitary with bluish green, depressed spherical bodies and has a fleshy taproot . The bodies, which appear white due to the dense thorns, reach heights of 2 to 3 centimeters and diameters of 2 to 3.5 centimeters. Their humps are elongated vertically and 3 millimeters high. There is no central spine . The approximately 50 straight radial spines are arranged in a comb and one millimeter long.
The flowers are either white with a reddish or magenta central stripe or, rarely, deep pink. They have a diameter of 1.8 to 2.6 centimeters. The greenish, dark fruits are approximately spherical and 7 to 8 millimeters long.
Systematics, distribution and endangerment
Turbinicarpus pseudopectinatus is common in grasslands and pine-juniper woodlands in the Mexican states of Nuevo León , San Luis Potosí, and Tamaulipas .
It was first described as Pelecyphora pseudopectinata in 1935 by Curt Backeberg . In 1977 it was placed in the genus Turbinicarpus by Charles Edward Glass and Robert Alan Foster .
Nomenclatory synonyms are Mammillaria pseudopectinata (Backeb.) HPKelsey & Dayton (1942), Normanbokea pseudopectinata (Backeb.) Kladiwa & Buxb. (1969), Thelocactus pseudopectinatus (Backeb.) EFAnderson & Boke (1969), Neolloydia pseudopectinata (Backeb.) EFAnderson (1986) and Pediocactus pseudopectinatus (Backeb.) Halda (1998). Other synonyms are Thelocactus pseudopectinatus f. rubriflorus hoard. (s. a., nom. inval. ICBN -Article 29.1), Neolloydia pseudopectinata var. rubiflora A.T. Powell (1995, nom. inval. ICBN -Article 36.1, 37.1) and Turbinicarpus pseudopectinatus subsp. jarmilae Halda & Chvastek (2000).
Turbinicarpus pseudopectinatus is listed in Appendix I of the Washington Convention on Endangered Species . In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN from 2002, she was as " Vulnerable (VU) ", d. H. classified as endangered. In 2013 the species is known as " Least Concern (LC) ", i. H. not endangered.
