Turbinicarpus swobodae is a species of plant in the genus Turbinicarpus from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Turbinicarpus swobodae grows individually with dark gray-green, depressed spherical to short cylindrical bodies and has fiber roots. The bodies reach heights of growth of about 3 centimeters and a diameter of 5 centimeters. Their irregular pyramidal humps are 3 to 5 millimeters high. There are 4 to 6 non-corky thorns that are whitish at the base and dark gray or black towards the tip and are 4 to 13 millimeters long.

The white to cream-colored or bright yellow flowers are 1 to 1.6 centimeters long and 1.3 to 2.2 centimeters in diameter. The initially greenish fruits turn brownish later. They are 5 to 7 millimeters long and reach a diameter of 3.5 to 4 millimeters.

Systematics, distribution and endangerment

Turbinicarpus swobodae is widespread in the Mexican state of Nuevo León . The first description was in 1987 by Lothar Diers . Turbinicarpus swobodae is listed in Appendix I of the Washington Convention on Endangered Species . In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is it as " Critically Endangered (CR) , d". H. classified as critically endangered.
