The Tutupaca is a volcano in the Moquegua region in southern Peru that was extinct in prehistoric times . Its height is 5,805 meters and its summit has a crest of eternal snow.
It is an easy mountain to climb, and above all you need a good physical condition for great heights. At the foot of the mountain there are even larger areas covered with volcanic ash and some hot thermal springs can be found. Most of the original cone was blown away, fragments of it were hurled into the area of today's port city of Ilo several kilometers away .
Access to the volcano is via Moquegua –Huaytire – Laguna de Suche.
