Tymofij Bohdanowytsch Khmelnytsky ( Ukrainian Тимофій Богданович Хмельницький , even Тиміш Tymisch ; born September 6 . Jul / 16th September  1632 greg. In Subotiv , Poland-Lithuania , † September 5 jul. / 15. September  1653 greg. In Suceava , Principality Moldova ) was a military leader of the Zaporozhian Cossacks during the Khmelnytskyi Uprising .

Tymofij Khmelnyzkyj was born in Subotiv in 1632 as the eldest son of Bohdan Khmelnyzkyj and his first wife Hanna Somkivna. In February and March of 1648 he stayed, as a result of negotiations between Bohdan Khmelnytsky and the Khan of Crimea Islâm III. Giray on an agreement to fight together against Poland, as a hostage in Bakhchysaray .

In 1648 Tymofij, the older brother of Yuri Khmelnytskyi , became captain of the Chigirin regiment and took part in the campaign in Galicia with his father . He fought in 1649 in the Battle of Sboriv , 1651 in the Battle of Berestechko and in 1652 in the Battle of Batoh . He then moved to the Principality of Moldova and married his daughter Ruxandra on August 31, 1652 in order to consolidate an alliance directed against Poland with the voivode of the Principality Vasile Lupu . He died in September 1653 during the siege of Suceava ( Облога Сучави ). In October 1653 he was buried in Tschyhyryn .

His death put an end to Bohdan Khmelnitskyi's diplomatic approach to an alliance between the Cossacks and the Principality of Moldova as the basis of his foreign policy.
