Tyranex is a Swedish thrash metal band from Stockholm that was formed in 2005.

history

The band was founded in December 2005 by guitarist Linnea Landstedt and singer Paloma Estrada, after they both had got to know each other better at a RAM concert. After Stefan Thylander joined the line-up as bass player and Fredrik Romlin as drummer, the band recorded a first demo, which contains three songs, in a local studio. At the end of 2006 Estrada left the line-up, after which Landstedt also took over the vocals. After that, the band worked on new songs, whereupon the demo Blade of the Sacrificer was recorded in January 2008 . All 252 copies of the demo were sold. The rest of 2008 and 2009 the band spent playing concerts. The band performed not only in Stockholm, but also in other Swedish cities. The first gig outside of Sweden was held in Göttingen , after which another was held in Helsinki . During this time, the band also recorded the next demo, The Evil Has Arrived , which was released in April 2009. Tuukka Franck can then be heard as the new drummer and Martin Zettmar as another guitarist. In spring 2010 Johannes Lindström joined Tyranex as the new drummer. In April the band signed a contract with Infernö Records , after which work began on their debut album, which was released in June 2011 under the name Extermination Has Begun . The album had a circulation of 1,000 copies. After performing for release in Stockholm, the band played at the Jalometalli festival in Oulu, Finland in August . A little later the band played at the Würzburg Metal Assault Festival for an hour in front of about 1,000 people. To promote the album, the band performed in Germany and Finland as well as in Spain , the Netherlands and France . In 2013, the debut album was released as a record with the German label Journey's End Records and Per Lindström came as a new bassist to fill. In 2014 the next album Unable to Tame was released via Black Lodge Records , the sound carrier being distributed by Rough Trade Distribution . The release of the album had been delayed by playing Europe-wide gigs and the departure of the then bassist, who had been replaced by Lindström. After the recordings, Nino Vukovic joined the band as the new guitarist for live support.

style

According to the band biography on tyranex.net , the band has been influenced by groups like Kreator , Destruction , Agent Steel and Megadeth . Landstedt initially practiced riffs from Iron Maiden and Megadeth. According to Janne Stark in The Heaviest Encyclopedia of Swedish Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Ever! the band plays good, but ordinary Thrash Metal. In his review of Unable to Tame , Wolfram Küper from Rock Hard stated that Tyranex does not sound interchangeable compared to other Thrash Metal bands. The singing sounds brutal and bestial and does not go well with Landstedt's delicate appearance. The album offers Thrash Metal, which is rousing, irrepressible, lumpy and mangy. The music corresponds to the European or Teutonic school. In the next issue, Landstedt stated in an interview with Küper that she composed the first album almost on her own. The second was created together with the drummer Lindström. The band was more influenced by European than American Thrash Metal.
