The 2016 Oceania U-20 Football Championship was the 13th edition of the Oceania Football Confederation's (OFC) biennial oceanic football tournament for players 19 and under. For the first time the finals were held in Vanuatu .

Although the name continued to be the U-20 Oceania Championship , the maximum age limit was reduced to 19 years. Players wishing to enter the competition must have been born on or after January 1, 1997. At the November 2013 meeting of the OFC Executive Committee in Auckland , this condition was changed to give the tournament winners enough time to prepare for the U-20 World Cup .

In March 2015, FIFA decided that the OFC would get two starting places for each U-20 and U-17 World Cup . This meant that two teams qualified for the 2017 U-20 World Cup in South Korea .
