Bollenberg nature reserve

The nature reserve Bollenberg is a 9.36 hectare nature reserve (NSG) south of Mellen in the urban area of Balve in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . In 1955 and 1965, the Arnsberg district government designated the area as an NSG by ordinance. The NSG was designated for the first time in 1989 by the district council of the Märkisches Kreis with the landscape plan No. 2 Balve-Mitteleres-Hönnetal under the name Bollenberg nature reserve south of Mellen, town of Balve . The NSG was re-designated in 2015 by the district council of the Märkisches Kreis with the 2nd amendment to landscape plan No. 2 Balve-Mitteleres-Hönnetal under the name Bollenberg . The NSG consists of two areas. A sub-area of ​​3 hectares has been designated as the FFH area Wacholderheide Bollenberg (No. DE-4613-304) since 2004 .

Area description

The NSG consists of two different partial areas. In the northern part of the area there is a mountain alder quarry and surrounding deciduous forests. The southern part has a juniper heather and a beech forest.
