Sarpreet Singh (born February 20, 1999 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand soccer player . He is on loan from FC Bayern Munich to 1. FC Nürnberg and is a New Zealand national player.

Career

societies

Singh went through Onehunga Sports Football School . After a few games for the U17 national team , the Wellington Phoenix noticed him, whereupon he switched to their soccer academy in 2015 after receiving a soccer scholarship from New Zealand international Winston Reid for Scots College.

After playing for the reserve team of Wellington Phoenix for two years, he signed a three-year contract with the professional team. After a few appearances, he made his starting eleven debut on February 17, 2018. Although he only played eleven games in the 2017/18 A-League season , he was the team's second-best goalscorer behind Andrija Kaluđerović .

For the 2019/20 season he was signed by FC Bayern Munich , for whose second team he was scheduled in the third division . Singh received a contract with a term until June 30, 2022. The midfielder completed the summer preparation under Niko Kovač partly in the professional squad and was part of this in the first competitive games. On August 19, 2019 (5th match day), the New Zealander made his debut in the third division match at Halleschen FC , which ended with his team's 2-1 victory. He scored his first third division goal on August 31, 2019 (7th matchday) in the 1: 2 defeat in the home game against SpVgg Unterhaching with the goal to 1: 1 in the 38th minute. Under the new head coach of the first team, Hansi Flick , Singh was integrated into the professional squad in mid-November 2019, together with Oliver Batista-Meier , Leon Dajaku and Joshua Zirkzee . He made his Bundesliga debut on December 14, 2019 (15th matchday) in a 6-1 win in the home game against Werder Bremen with a substitution for Philippe Coutinho from the 82nd minute. This made him the first New Zealander to play in the Bundesliga since Wynton Rufer 25 years ago. In the third division, Singh most often played in the central midfield alongside Maximilian Welzmüller or Timo Kern , but was also used more offensively in some games or even on the wings. With seven goals and seven assists each, he was one of the team's best scorers and thus decisively involved in the first third division championship title of a second representation. For the Bundesliga team, Singh played again on the penultimate match day, when the championship title had already been won for them, in the starting eleven as a left winger.

For the 2020/21 second division season , the New Zealander and his teammate Christian Früchtl were awarded to 1. FC Nürnberg .

National team

With the U17 national team , he took part in the U17 Oceania Championship 2015 and won it. With the U20 national team , he won the Oceania Championship in 2016 and took part in the U20 World Championship in 2017 and 2019 .

On March 24, 2018, he played against the national team of Canada his first international match for the senior team . He scored his first international goal on June 2, 2018 in Mumbai in a 2-1 win in the friendly against the Kenyan national team with the goal to make it 1-0 in the 42nd minute.
