Georg Margreitter (born November 7, 1988 in Bludenz ) is an Austrian football player . He is under contract with 1. FC Nürnberg .
life and career
Margreitter began his career at FC Schruns in Vorarlberg . Then he came to the federal youth center in Vorarlberg. He was appointed to the youth league by the Upper Austrian club LASK Linz . In 2007 he was included in the first team of the Bundesliga club. He made his Bundesliga debut on July 28, 2007 against FC Red Bull Salzburg , when he was used in the LASK back four for over 90 minutes.
In summer 2008 Margreitter moved to the newly founded SC Magna Wiener Neustadt . After a successful season with a regular place as a central defender, he switched back to LASK with the loan expiring. There he was named team captain for the new championship season. On September 12, 2009, in the game against Sturm Graz, he scored the equalizer in the 95th minute of the game to make it 3: 3, securing LASK the first away point of the season.
From the 2010/11 season Margreitter played for FK Austria Wien and scored a goal in the Bundesliga and also a goal in the ÖFB Cup in the first two years . In the 2012/13 season he moved to the Wolverhampton Wanderers in England after one cup and three championship games in August 2012 . Margreitter made his debut in the English second division on September 19, 2012 in the game against Ipswich Town when he came on for Kevin Doyle from Ireland . The game at Portman Road ended in a 2-0 win for the Wanderers. For the 2013/14 season he was awarded to FC Copenhagen . On September 17, 2013 he made his Champions League debut for FC Copenhagen when he came on as a substitute for Juventus Turin in the 86th minute.
On August 24, 2015 Margreitter was signed by 1. FC Nürnberg , where he became an integral part of the defense. In 2018 he was runner-up in the 2nd Bundesliga with Nuremberg and was promoted to the Bundesliga . There he scored his first Bundesliga goal in a 1-1 draw against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on December 3, 2018 (13th matchday).
Internationally, the Vorarlberg player played at the U-19 European Football Championship in 2007 , where he was eliminated with Austria in the group stage of the preliminary round.
