Career
Club career
Beginnings in youth
Köpke began playing football at a young age at the local clubs ASV Herzogenaurach and 1. FC Herzogenaurach . From 2003 to 2013 he played in the youth department of 1. FC Nürnberg before moving to SpVgg Unterhaching .
SpVgg Unterhaching
As a youth player, Köpke made his debut in the second team of SpVgg Unterhaching on the first matchday of the 2013/14 season of the Bayernliga . In the 1: 3 defeat against TSV Bogen on July 20, 2013, he completed the entire 90 minutes. Two game days later he scored his first two goals in the adult division in a 3-0 win against VfB Eichstätt . On November 9, 2013, Köpke made his professional debut for SpVgg Unterhaching and scored his first goal in the professional field. In the game against the second team of VfB Stuttgart in the third division , he was substituted on by coach Claus Schromm in the 68th minute for Marius Duhnke and scored in the 88th minute with a side pull to make the final 4-0. The viewers of the Sportschau chose the goal as goal of the month .
Karlsruher SC
In June 2015, the second division club Karlsruher signed SC Köpke and provided him with a contract that runs until June 30, 2018. Under coach Markus Kauczinski , he made his debut on the second day of the 2015/16 season in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2-1 defeat against FC St. Pauli . Because Köpke was rarely used in the first team, he gained match practice with the second team.
FC Erzgebirge Aue
After Köpke had only played 37 minutes in four missions in the first half of the season and only played four missions with the second team, he was loaned out to third division club FC Erzgebirge Aue during the winter break . During this phase he scored ten goals in 14 league games and at the end of the season he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with the team. At the end of May 2016, FC Erzgebirge signed Aue Köpke until June 30, 2020.
Hertha BSC
After relegation with Erzgebirge Aue over the relegation games against his old club from Karlsruhe, Köpke moved to the Bundesliga for Hertha BSC for the 2018/19 season . Under the head coach Pál Dárdai , he completed 7 Bundesliga games in his first season, where he was substituted on and scored no goal. He also played 4 times (one goal) in the second team in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nordost . In the following year, the attacker was used even less and came on only five short missions and one starting eleven in the Regionalliga, as changing Berlin trainers rather relied on Dodi Lukebakio , captain Vedad Ibišević or the newly signed Davie Selke .
Return to Nuremberg
For the 2020/21 season , Köpke returned to his youth club 1. FC Nürnberg .
National team career
On May 29, 2015, Köpke was nominated for the U-20 World Cup in New Zealand by Frank Wormuth after Tim Kleindienst from Energie Cottbus was injured. There he was used twice.
