Walter Bradley

Walter Dwight Bradley (born October 30, 1946 in Clovis , New Mexico ) is an American politician . Between 1995 and 2002 he served as lieutenant governor in the state of New Mexico .

Career

Walter Dwight Bradley, son of Margaret Jo (1913–1980) and Ralph W. Bradley (1908–1964), was born in Curry County about a year after the end of World War II . He had an older brother, Charles D. "Chuck" Bradley (1939-2002). Walter graduated from Clovis High School . He then attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales , Roosevelt County . He then moved to Dallas ( Texas ), where he first at Texas Instruments and later with National Chemsearch Corporation worked. During this time he received several awards and quickly climbed the corporate ladder. He married his wife Deborah in Clovis. The couple had their son Tige. In 1976 the family moved to Clovis. There he founded a real estate company. He was listed in Who's Who of Finance and Industry and Who's Who in the West . In the following years his son Lance and his daughter Nicole were born.

Politically, he belongs to the Republican Party . Between 1989 and 1992 he was a member of the New Mexico Senate . During this time he was a member of the Economic Development Committee and the Education Committee . In November 1994 he was elected Lieutenant Governor of New Mexico. A re-election followed in 1998. He held the post from 1995 to 2002. As Lieutenant Governor, he was President of the Senate . He has served on the New Mexico Space Commission Board , the New Mexico Border Authority, and the Executive Board for the Workforce Development Board . He also chaired the Small Business Advocacy Council . As a result, he implemented legislative reform to remove regulatory hurdles for small businesses. He also served as honorary chairman of the New Mexico Resource Advisory Council and was named New Mexico's top man for federal environmental relations . At the Republican Primary of 2002, he ran unsuccessfully for governor of New Mexico. The family moved to Santa Fe at the beginning of his first term as lieutenant governor . During this time, their daughter Kristin was born. At the beginning of his second term, the family then moved to Albuquerque .

After retiring from his last tenure as Lieutenant Governor, he assumed the post of Assistant Land Commissioner to oversee the Commercial and Special Projects Division . In August 2004 the family returned to Clovis. He took up the position of Director of Government and Industry Relations for Dairy Farmers of America Inc. for the Southwest region, which includes New Mexico, Texas , Oklahoma and Kansas .
