Edward G. Sargent

Edward G. Sargent (born April 1, 1877 in Janesville , Rock County , Wisconsin , United States ; † in the 20th century ) was an American rancher and politician . Between 1925 and 1929 he was lieutenant governor of the state of New Mexico .

He belonged to the Republican Party . Between 1919 and 1920 he served as a State Auditor for New Mexico. He sat on the Republican National Committee in 1924 and was elected lieutenant governor of his state. He held this office between January 1, 1925 and January 1, 1929. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . He served under Governors Arthur T. Hannett and Richard C. Dillon . As a delegate, he took part in the Republican National Conventions in 1940 and 1944 . After that his track is lost.

The Edward Sargent Wildlife Area in Chama , Rio Arriba County was named after him.
