Robert E. Ferguson

Robert E. Ferguson (born August 5, 1924 or August 5, 1925 in Pineland , Texas , † October 3, 2016 in Mesilla Park , New Mexico ) was an American politician . Between 1975 and 1978 he served as lieutenant governor in the state of New Mexico .

Career

Robert E. Ferguson was born in Sabine County in the mid-1920s . He graduated from Baylor University in Waco . He and his wife Rosemary have four children, two sons and two daughters. He worked in the transportation industry and was a senior executive at real estate and insurance companies.

Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party . He sat in the New Mexico Senate from 1971 to 1972 , where he represented the 21st District of New Mexico. In 1974 he was elected lieutenant governor of New Mexico and held this post from 1975 to 1978. In 1978 he ran unsuccessfully for the office of governor of New Mexico at the Democratic Primary .
