Roberto Mondragón
Roberto A. Mondragón (* 1940 in La Loma , New Mexico ) is an American politician . Between 1971 and 1974 and between 1979 and 1982 he served as Lieutenant Governor in the state of New Mexico .
Career
Roberto A. Mondragón was born in Guadalupe County during World War II . He attended a one-class school. In 1958 he graduated from Albuquerque High School as the senior year speaker . Then he studied electronics . After his studies he worked as a technician at the station KABC. This activity led to the creation of his first Spanish-language radio talk show in Albuquerque in the 1960s . Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party . He was active in local politics. He was elected to the New Mexico Legislature in 1966 and re-elected in 1968. He successfully ran for the post of lieutenant governor of New Mexico in 1970 - a post he held from 1971 to 1974. During this time he went to the Democratic Primary in New Mexico for a seat in the US Senate in 1972 and in 1974 in the 1st District of New Mexico for a seat in the US House of Representatives . After his successful candidacy in 1978 for the office of Lieutenant Governor of New Mexico, he held this post from 1979 to 1982 a second time. During this time he took part in 1980 as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention . Then he went to 1982 unsuccessfully at the Democratic Primary in the 3rd District of New Mexico for a seat in the US House of Representatives.
In 1994 he unsuccessfully applied for the post of governor of New Mexico as a candidate for the Green Party and in 1996 for a seat in the US House of Representatives. Mondragón was also active as an actor. He had a role in Robert Redford's 1988 film Milagro: The Beanfield War .
