Tom Krauss (born June 22, 2001 in Leipzig ) is a German soccer player . The midfielder is on loan from RB Leipzig to 1. FC Nürnberg .

Career

Krauss began his career in the youth of the former Leipzig soccer club FC Sachsen Leipzig . At the age of 10 he switched to the youth department of the Bundesliga club RB Leipzig . There, the midfield player went through all teams from D to A youth .

In June 2019, the Bundesliga team provided Krauss with a professional contract until June 30, 2021. This was expanded in June 2020 to June 2025. Since then he has been a regular part of the matchday squad of coach Julian Nagelsmann . On the 34th matchday of the 2019/20 season , Krauss made his debut in a 2-1 away win against FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga. He came on in the 87th minute for Tyler Adams . Krauss became the first native of Leipzig to make his professional debut at RB Leipzig. In addition, Krauss played regularly for the A-Juniors (U19) in the A-Juniors Bundesliga and UEFA Youth League .

For the second division season 2020/21 Krauss was signed by 1. FC Nürnberg for two years on loan. Robert Klauß , the club's new head coach , had previously trained him in various Leipzig youth teams and as an assistant coach with the professionals.

National team

Krauss has been playing for DFB junior teams since 2015 . Krauss is currently the captain of the German U19 team .
