St. Peter's Church in Ashara

The Protestant St. Petri Church is a church building in Aschara , a district of Bad Langensalza in the Unstrut-Hainich district ( Thuringia ).

history

A previous church was mentioned in 1291, it was also consecrated to the Apostle Peter . In place of the old church, the new church was built from 1749 as a gallery hall with a west tower. The foundation stone was laid on May 28, 1749, the inauguration on Assumption Day in 1750.

architecture

The hall church is 20.4 m long and 12.6 m wide. The building is structured by two rows of windows and corner pilasters.

A wooden ceiling was drawn into the interior, which is painted with depictions of the Annunciation, the Resurrection and the Ascension of Christ . The ceiling paintings were made around 1900. The pulpit altar is decorated with figures of Johannes d. T. and the Prophet Moses and putti . The sound cover shows the Trinity Glory .

The baptismal font from 1753 is decorated with a relief of the baptism of Christ in the Jordan. The organ was created by Johann Valentin Nößler in 1760, the prospectus is decorated with leaf tendrils, shellwork and musical angels. The Theophilus bell, which was cast in the form of a beehive in the 11th century, is exhibited in the Apolda Bell Museum.
