Thaliastraße station

The Thaliastraße station is an above-ground station on the Vienna underground line U6. It is located on the central reservation of the Lerchenfelder belt between the 7 . and the 16 . Viennese district. It is named after the shopping street Thaliastrasse, which was named in 1894 after the former Thaliatheater .

The station, which has two side platforms, was opened in 1980 as a completely new building on the belt line of the Vienna Electric City Railway, after the Vienna Steam City Railway, which opened in 1898, still passed the place without stopping. The platforms' roofs consist of exposed concrete beams and glass panes. The design of the small reception building at the northern exit, which houses a public toilet facility, with its exposed brick cladding takes part in Otto Wagner's architecture . The exit at the northern end leads by means of escalators to a small reception building under the route of the U6. Here you can change to tram line 46, which stops under the U6 bridge. Due to the different terrain levels, one of the few stepless entrances to the entire Vienna underground network is located at the southern end of the platforms. Here you can also get a connection to the bus 48A in the direction of Baumgartner Höhe .

In June 2014, renovation work began on the station, with the platform, entrances and gates being replaced. The roof is also to be replaced with a new one.
