Zoo is a station of the Frankfurt U-Bahn . It is located on the C route and is served by the U6 and U7 lines. The station is located in the Ostend district under the zoo that gives it its name . Here the C-route branches into two branches to the Ostbahnhof and to Enkheim . The station opened on October 11, 1986.
location
Zoo station is located between Konstablerwache and Habsburgerallee (U7) and Ostbahnhof (U6) stations. It is located under Alfred-Brehm-Platz in front of the Frankfurt Zoo Society House . The Heinrich-von-Gagern-Gymnasium and two hospitals are also in the immediate vicinity .
Construction
While the western branches of the C line have been used since opening, the Zoo underground station was the common terminus of both lines for several years. Now the route branches off here onto the two eastern branches of the route. The distance to the Ostbahnhof is only about 750 meters, the shortest part of the Frankfurt underground network. The two tunnels connect to the two outer tracks of the Zoo underground station. The northern track coming from the Ostbahnhof passes under the tunnel of the connecting line to Enkheim. This enables the U6 trains to be routed onto the main line without any plan .
