UCI Women's WorldTeam
UCI Women's World Team are by the International Cycling Union UCI licensed cycling team in road cycling women .
The team category UCI Women's WorldTeam was introduced for the 2010 season and is intended to be the new first division in road cycling ahead of the UCI Women's Continental Teams . The Women's WorldTeams are to be invited to the UCI Women's WorldTour competitions by the organizers.
Identity, name and nationality
A UCI Women's WorldTeam consists of the team operator paying agent , the sponsors (including up to three main partners), the racing cyclists and the other employees of the team (manager, trainer , team doctor , designer , mechanic, etc.).
The name of a UCI Women's WorldTeam is the name or brand of one or more of its main partners. The team name changes when the sponsors change and can also become the name of another team in whole or in part.
The nationality of a UCI WorldTeam is determined either by the seat of the team operator or the country in which the advertised product, service or brand is traded, and has no practical significance.
UCI Women's WorldTour team license
The UCI awards UCI Women's WorldTour Team licenses for up to four years based on athletic, ethical, financial, administrative and organizational criteria. The licensed teams are called UCI Women * s WorldTeams and have to be re-registered annually. The license can expire if these criteria are not met.
The total number of UCI WorldTour team licenses is limited to eight in 2020, twelve in 2021 and 15 from 2022. All licenses issued between 2010 and 2022 are limited to the end of the 2013 season.
The ethical criterion relates in particular to the question of doping . The administrative criterion relates in particular to compliance with the licensing rules, e.g. B. the submission of contracts and their compliance with the rules. The financial criterion concerns the ability to meet liabilities.
The organizational criterion applies from the 2021 season and relates in particular to the support provided by doctors and trainers as well as the limitation of racing days per driver to 75.
If more teams meet these criteria than licenses are to be awarded, the sporting criterion is used. For the 2020 to 2023 seasons, the UCI team world rankings will be used as of October 1st. From 2024 onwards, 4-year licenses will be awarded to the first five teams of a UCI Women's WorldTeams ranking , 3-year-olds for places six to 10 and two-year-olds for places eleven to 15. The fifteenth team measures itself together with the new applications according to the UCI team world rankings .
Female drivers
The riders of the UCI Women's WorldTeams are professional cyclists . Their minimum working conditions are regulated by UCI regulations. As of the 2023 season, the minimum wage will be the minimum wage for drivers in a UCI ProTeam .
The minimum number of riders per team is ten (2020 and 2021: nine). The maximum number of riders per UCI Women's is 22 (2020 and 2022: 16)
In addition, a UCI Women's WorldTeam can contract up to two riders as stagiaires from August 1st of each year , but they are not allowed to take part in races of the UCI Women's WorldTour.
