The 1948/49 season was the fourth regular season of the United States Hockey League (USHL). Masters became the St. Paul Saints .

In the regular season, the eight teams completed 66 games each, with the championship being divided into two divisions (North and South). Then the champions were played in playoffs. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a defeat.
