history
The Alabama was laid down at Electric Boat in 1980 and launched there in 1984. A year later, the boat entered service with the United States Navy .
The ship operates nuclear deterrent patrols in the Pacific , including the 100th Trident boat patrol in 1988. In the same year, the Alabama successfully carried out a test kill of a Trident I C4 .
After 47 trips, the Alabama underwent an intensive overhaul in 1999, during which, among other things, its missile system was upgraded to accommodate the new Trident II D5 .

A replica of Alabama is the location of the 1995 film Crimson Tide .
