The USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) is the eighth aircraft carriers of the Nimitz-class of the US Navy . It bears the name of the 33rd US President , Harry S. Truman . It was in the shipyard Newport News Shipbuilding on 29 November 1993 laid the keel and on 7 September 1996 baptized .
Carrier Air Wing Three (CVW-3) is currently stationed on Harry S. Truman , its home port is Naval Station Norfolk .
Like the USS John C. Stennis , the USS Harry S. Truman recently completed an 11-month PIA overhaul at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth , Virginia . On April 11, 2018, the USS Harry S. Truman and its aircraft carrier combat group set off on a mission to Europe and the Middle East.
