The USS Hepburn (DE / FF-1055) was a Knox-class frigate . She served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1991 . It was named after Admiral Arthur Japy Hepburn (* October 15, 1877 - May 31, 1964), a veteran of the Spanish-American War , the First and Second World Wars .

history

The Hepburn was laid down on June 1, 1966 at Todd Pacific Shipyards in San Pedro , California . The launch took place on May 25, 1967, the commissioning with the Navy on July 3, 1969.

The ship was assigned to the Pacific Fleet, the home port was San Diego .

The frigate was decommissioned on December 20, 1991, and remained in the Navy register of ships until January 11, 1995. The Hepburn was sunk on June 4, 2002 during the SINKEX 2002.
