Ukrzalisnytsja (UZ) class ДС3 ( DS3 ) locomotives are wide-gauge (1520 mm) electric locomotives for railways with alternating current . They were developed in cooperation between Siemens and the Dnipropetrovsk electric locomotive factory and were manufactured by the Dnipropetrovsk electric locomotive factory in 2003–2008. The vehicles were nicknamed Помидор ( Pomidor , derived from their deployment depot Kiev -P), Дуся ( Dusja , probably behind the consonance with their name DS ). It was also given the name Утюг ( Utjug - German: iron). The box from the locomotive is reminiscent of the old shape of an iron.

description

The electric locomotive was developed as a universal locomotive for operation with passenger and freight trains on lines electrified with 25 kV alternating current 50 Hz. The locomotives are used in the Kyiv P depot for passenger trains on the Piwdenno-Sachidna Salisnyzja .

production

The locomotive was produced in cooperation with the Dnipropetrovsk electric locomotive factory (mechanical part, auxiliary machines), Siemens (traction drive electronics) and the Smila electromechanical workshop in Cherkassy Oblast , which manufactured the traction motors.

Mechanical part

The mechanical part of the electric locomotive is designed in many parts uniformly with parts of the electric locomotive ДЭ1 ( DE1 ), namely with two two-axle bogies, the frame of which is welded. All wheels can be braked on both sides. The transmission of the tractive and braking forces to the frame of the locomotive happens as with the locomotives ДЭ1 ( DE1 ), ВЛ85 , ЭП1 and 2ЭС5 .

Traction drive motors

The traction drive motors of the electric locomotive are three-phase three-phase drive motors from the Smila electromechanical workshop in Cherkassy Oblast .

The traction drive motors are fed by the converters in the middle of the box with a linear voltage of up to 2,200 V. The converter is managed by a microprocessor system. The force scheme is controlled from the locomotive driver's cab using two handles - the speed is set with one handle, the acceleration or braking deceleration with the other.

Auxiliary machines

The auxiliary machines also have a three-phase drive. Two centrifugal motor fans are installed on the electric locomotive to cool the traction motors, and two V-shaped 4-cylinder compressors are used to supply compressed air. The locomotive has the option of changing the pneumatic brake in the passenger train or freight train positions , which enables it to be used as a universal locomotive .
