Ubisoft Quebec is a Canadian video game developer and subsidiary of the French video game company Ubisoft , based in Quebec .

history

The Ubisoft Quebec office was announced on April 11, 2005 and opened on June 2, 2005. In June 2008, Ubisoft Quebec expanded its Computer Generated Imagery business to collaborate with Guillemot Corporation on films. However, this task was given up when Ubisoft Motion Pictures was founded in May 2011. On November 3, 2011, Ubisoft acquired a Québec-based development division from Longtail Studios . The acquisition brought Ubisoft Quebec 48 new employees.

On June 4, 2013, François Pelland was appointed Executive Director. In September 2013, Ubisoft announced that it plans to invest $ 373 million in Ubisoft Quebec's infrastructure to create an additional 500 positions. Ubisoft Quebec is expected to employ 3,500 people by the end of 2020. As a first step towards this goal, an additional 100 jobs were created on January 24, 2014 with an investment of $ 28 million. On July 2, 2014, it was announced that Ubisoft Quebec would lead the development of the upcoming Assassin's Creed game (which later became Assassin's Creed Syndicate ). All previous titles were created under the direction of Ubisoft Montreal . On the same day, the studio also announced that the 350 employees will move to new offices in the Saint-Roch district to create space for an additional 100 workplaces. In 2017 Patrick Klaus was appointed Managing Director of Ubisoft Quebec. In December 2018, Mike Laidlaw, who previously served as Creative Director for BioWare , joined Ubisoft Quebec to take on the same role.
