Uda Carmen Freia Heller b. Bishop (born June 15, 1951 in Großengottern ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending the Polytechnic High School (POS), Uda Heller completed an apprenticeship as a fruit and vegetable conservator. She completed her subsequent studies in food technology in 1973 as a graduate engineer (FH) . Then she worked until 1975 as a technical inspector in the 1972 expropriated company of her parents, the raw canning factory ("Rokofa") Großengottern. In 1975 she switched to the hygiene inspection of the Sangerhausen district as a food inspector . After she had gotten the permission to start her own business in 1985, she and her husband founded the "Weinkelterei Heller" in Kelbra . After the reunification , she and her husband founded the Heller Modernisierungs- und Renovierungs-GmbH in Roßla, of which Uda Heller was the managing director until 2002. When she moved into the German Bundestag, she gave up this activity.

Uda Heller has been married since 1973 and has two grown sons with a family.

Political party

In 1987 Uda Heller joined the Eastern CDU . In 1990 she was one of the co-founders of the SME and Business Association in the Sangerhausen district and was its chairman until 1993. In the years that followed, she performed a wide variety of functions at all levels of the party. From 1998 to 2012 she was deputy state chairwoman of the CDU in Saxony-Anhalt .

MPs

Uda Heller was elected to the local council of Roßla and the district council of the Sangerhausen district in 1990. From 1992 to 2007 she was chairwoman of the Sangerhausen district council. In 2010 she ended her mandate after 20 years of active membership due to incompatibility with her new position as project manager of the federal program “Perspective Vocational Qualification” Regional Transition Management Mansfeld Südharz of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. From 1994 to 2002 she was a member of the presidium of the district assembly of Saxony-Anhalt and since 1995 has been a member of the presidium of the district assembly of Saxony-Anhalt. In the Council of Europe she was an honorary member of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities from 1994 to 1998. She was deputy state chairwoman of the CDU-Saxony-Anhalt from 1998 to 2010.

In 2002 she became a member of the German Bundestag and was chairwoman of the Saxony-Anhalt regional group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group from 2005 to 2009 . During this time it always moved into the Bundestag via the Saxony-Anhalt state list .

Heller failed in the 2009 Bundestag election on September 27 in the Mansfeld constituency in the fight for the direct mandate with 32.2% of the first votes and left the Bundestag. In the subsequent federal election on September 22, 2013, she received 41.9% of the first votes and thus won the direct mandate. In October 2016, she announced that she would not run for the Bundestag again.

Honors

Uda Heller was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit (Merit Medal) in 2010 .
