Statue of the Udjahorresnet in the Museo Gregoriano Egizio

Udjahorresnet was buried in Abusir , where his gigantic shaft grave was found and was excavated from 1980 to 1993. However, it had already been looted. Udjahorresnet is best known for its statue , which is now kept in the Museo Gregoriano Egizio in Rome . There is a detailed biography of Udjahorresnet on this statue . This text is particularly noteworthy because Udjahorresnet mentions the arrival of the Persians and presents himself as loyal subordinates of Cambyses II and Darius I. It is so far the only Egyptian source that dates from the arrival of the Persians in 525 BC. Chr. Reported.

meaning

The person of the Udjahorresnet is controversial in research. Older researchers in particular saw Udjahorresnet as a traitor to the Egyptians, while more recent investigations are more cautious in their judgment.
