Udo Köneke

Udo Köneke (born January 30, 1938 in Schöningen , Helmstedt district ) is a Lower Saxony politician ( SPD ) and member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Köneke first attended elementary school and later switched to the Anna Sophianeum grammar school in Schöningen. In 1959 he graduated from high school here. Following his school education, he did his military service and was last in the rank of captain of the reserve. Köneke began his teacher training at the Kant University in Braunschweig and worked as a teacher after graduating in 1964. By 1978 he rose to the position of vice principal at the primary school in Blomberg. He was a member of the German Federation of Trade Unions and a member of the Workers' Welfare Association and the German Federation for Bird Protection.

In 1972 he became a member of the SPD. For his party he became the first chairman of the SPD sub-district of Wittmund . In addition, he became the first chairman of the Lower Saxony football association in the Wittmund district and deputy chairman of the state sports association in Lower Saxony.

Since 1972 he was elected councilor of the Blomberg community and the Holtriem community . Here he was also mayor of the Holtriem municipality since 1986. Since 1977 he has been a member of the district council of the Wittmund district . In the ninth to twelfth electoral term, Köneke became a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from June 21, 1978 to June 20, 1994. Here he was elected chairman of the Committee for Youth and Sport from July 10, 1986 to June 20, 1994.
