Udo Rüterswörden

Udo Rüterswörden (born March 20, 1953 in Essen ) is a Protestant university professor at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn .

Life

He completed his studies (1971–1977) in Protestant theology, German and ancient oriental studies in Bochum and Münster with the faculty examination. After completing his doctorate in 1981 on "The Officials of the Israelite Royal Age" at the University of Bochum , he worked from 1983 to 1996 as a research assistant at the Gesenius workplace at the University of Kiel . After completing his habilitation in 1986 in Kiel with a thesis on the constitutional concept of Deuteronomy, he held a chair at the University of Munich in 1996/1997 . From 1997 to 2000 he was Professor (C4) for the Old Testament at the University of Leipzig . Since October 1, 2000, he has been teaching as a professor for the Old Testament in Bonn .

His work focuses on the prehistory of Genesis, ancient Hebrew studies, research on the prophets, Deuteronomy and the history of Israel.
